Hi & Welcome
My name is Kátia Merhi
As a Lebanese-Brazilian cis woman living in so-called Canada, my personal experiences of moving and immigrating to 3 different countries, feelings of not belonging, and constant change have shaped me and my counselling approach profoundly. As I navigated through my own struggles and challenges, I discovered a deep passion for supporting individuals who are going through similar things.

I welcome clients of all cultures, genders, ages, abilities, or other identities, and I have experience working with youth and adults. I am trained in culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care. I have training to support people regarding:
-
Anxiety
-
School Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Trauma
-
Loneliness and feelings of not belonging
-
Self-criticism & Perfectionism
-
Relational conflict and challenges
-
Life Transitions (immigration, aging, life changes)
Education & Credentials
I have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) accredited through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

Outside the Counselling Room
Outside of practice, I am still pretty much the same Kátia you will see in the therapy room. I work hard to be myself in most - if not all - settings, bringing my genuine, shy, compassionate, and caring self with me wherever I go.

You can probably find me out in nature with my dog, Daisy - who has been with me for 7 years now, traveling all over the world. I enjoy exploring new vegetarian restaurants around Vancouver and exploring new hobbies like doing DIY projects, painting, and making candles, and jewelry.
